OCR: merge all area boxes and editing with text pre-selected
Automatic merging of area recognition now joins ALL generated boxes (no font-size filter) — designed for areas of uniform text.
OCR ribbon reorganized: options fit inside the ribbon's own area without spilling into the title strip.
Double-clicking a text box opens editing with all content pre-selected — easy to copy or replace everything.
OCR: automatic merge by font size and button in the File & text tab
Recognize text in a selected area: new option (on by default) that automatically merges text boxes sharing the same font size — the average of the fonts recognized in that area, with tolerance for natural recognition jitter. Titles and notes with different sizes stay in separate boxes.
The "Recognize text in a selected area" button is also in the "File & text" tab, next to "Text box" — same flow, respecting the language and font-size range from the OCR tab.
Mobile: new "Close document" option in the menu — closes the document and clears auto-restore, so you can safely start fresh.
Mobile and homepage tool adjustments
Drawings on iPhone (Safari/Firefox): workaround for the gesture that was lost when lifting the finger — stroke finalization on touch gets a small delay (60 ms), with no impact on desktop.
Mobile homepage: language selector and light/dark toggle at the top.
The Architecture PDF Editor card no longer appears on phones (desktop tool).
Compress PDF: the default mode is now "Maximum compression" at quality 5 — the result truly shrinks with no tweaks.
Homepage: removed the "coming soon" cards for Compare PDF and HTML to PDF (they return to the catalog once implemented).
Fix: session auto-restore no longer overwrites the document when you open a file right after entering the app.
Mobile fixes: drawings, OCR area selection and notices
Drawings (pen, rectangle, whiteout, highlight, arrow) stay on the page on iPhone: gestures now survive pointer-capture failures and iOS native cancellation, and a single tap marks a dot.
Text-recognition area selection works with touch: cancelling mid-gesture becomes a partial selection instead of discarding it.
Pinch zoom no longer gets stuck when a finger is lifted over the toolbar.
OCR on mobile: errors and notices now show in a banner (they were invisible on mobile); new notice when no text is found; the image sent to recognition respects the iPhone canvas memory limit, with a notice when downscaling happens.
Improvements: maximum compression, multi-select and tool fixes
Compress PDF: new "Maximum compression" mode — every page becomes a JPEG image at the chosen quality and the PDF is rebuilt from images only (honest notice: text is no longer searchable). Changing quality or mode after compressing requires re-compressing before download.
Merge PDFs: you can now select several files at once in "+ Add PDFs" — they join the list in selection order.
Remove pages: chosen pages get a red "X" showing they will be deleted (not kept).
Crop PDF: option to keep the original page size with configurable background color and an eyedropper to sample a color from the document itself.
JPG to PDF: margin in pt, cm or inches and A4 page size by default.
Black out data: simplified name (no "redact"); a test guarantees the blacked-out text no longer exists in the downloaded file.
Cards that open the full editor (such as Sign PDF and Recognize text) now say so on the homepage.
Fix: tool text fields no longer lose focus with every typed character.
New tools: crop PDF, redact PDF and repair PDF
Crop PDF: draw the rectangle over the page preview (with resize handles) and apply it to every page or just the chosen ones. Honest in-app note: the default crop (CropBox) hides the content outside the margins but does not delete it — the "rasterize when cropping" option (destructive) removes it for real.
Redact PDF: mark rectangles over the sensitive areas of each page; marked pages become images with the black boxes burned in — real removal of the original text, not just a visual cover. The other pages stay untouched.
Repair PDF: rewrites the file structure from scratch (fixes common damage such as a broken cross-reference table) and, if that is not enough, recovers the pages that still open as images (destructive mode, clearly flagged).
New tools: PDF to JPG, text search, searchable PDF and form filling
PDF to JPG: turn pages into JPG or PNG images (page range, 1×/2×/3× scale and adjustable quality) and download everything as one ZIP.
Search text: find every occurrence of a term in the PDF, with a highlighted snippet and page number — one click opens the document in the editor, on the right page. The search ignores case and accents.
Searchable PDF: OCR recognizes the text of scanned pages and writes an invisible layer over the image — the look is unchanged, but the content becomes findable and selectable.
Fill forms: text fields, checkboxes, dropdowns and radio options filled in the browser, with form flattening on by default and a clear warning for XFA forms (unsupported).
New tools: page numbers, watermark, header/footer and Bates
Page numbers: 6 positions with mini-previews, "1", "1 of N" and "- 1 -" formats, free prefix/suffix and a skip-the-cover option.
Watermark: text (rotation, 9 positions or tiled) or image (JPG/PNG with scaling), with an opacity slider.
Header and footer: texts at the top and bottom of every page, with {pagina}, {total} and {data} tokens and your choice of alignment.
Bates numbering: sequential with configurable prefix, start number and zero-padding — bottom-right by default, for legal use.
New tools: remove pages, rotate and JPG to PDF
Remove pages: click the thumbnails of the pages to delete and download a new PDF without them — the original stays untouched.
Rotate pages: rotate each page in 90° steps (with an angle badge) or all at once.
JPG/PNG to PDF: convert multiple images into a single PDF, with drag-to-reorder, page size, orientation and margin options.
Fixes: images in compression and drawing on phones
Fix (compression): images with transparency no longer disappear — the transparency mask was rewritten in an invalid format and some readers dropped the whole image.
Fix (compression): inverted CMYK images no longer render blank after compression.
Fix (mobile): rectangle, highlight and freehand drawings no longer vanish when you lift your finger on iPhones.
Fix (OCR): the raw recognition preview no longer overlaps the recognized text in the line-edit tool.
OCR size filter, compression slider and always-saved work
OCR: filter the font-size range to convert (default 5–16 pt) or check "all sizes".
OCR: new option to keep each box's font size when merging text boxes (titles stay distinct).
OCR: the engine downloads automatically on first use — the load button is gone on desktop.
Compression: quality slider from 1 to 10 (1 = extreme compression). The compressor now always delivers a file at the chosen level and converts every image to JPEG — including CMYK and embedded PNGs (colors may shift slightly; a notice is shown).
Fix: your open work is continuously saved in the browser — an accidental reload no longer loses the document or annotations.
Fix (mobile): the document no longer jumps when the pinch ends; two-finger pan reaches the page edges; button text is no longer selected on long-press.
Unlocked pinch, no accidental reloads and friendlier OCR
Fix: pinch zoom no longer locks mid-gesture (the browser no longer takes over two-finger gestures).
Fix: dragging down at the top of the page no longer reloads the site — your work stays safe.
OCR: tools download the engine by themselves on first click, with a progress indicator — no separate load button needed.
OCR: whole-page recognition now covers the current page only, and the created layer carries the page number (e.g. OCR_1-p3).
Mobile: single page view and fixes
Fix: PDFs failed to open on iPhone Safari and Firefox (legacy WebKit polyfill).
On phones the editor shows one page at a time, with previous/next page buttons on the top bar.
Much lighter, more responsive pinch zoom: the preview is instant and the page only re-renders when you lift your fingers.
Area OCR on phones: the rectangle stays editable (corner handles) until you tap OK.
Long-press any dock tool to open its color and stroke-width menu.
Mobile editor
